About this blog. And the “Young Gilwellian Representative” (YGR)
This blog was created. And is managed by the Ontario Gilwell Reunion – Young Gilwellian Representative.
This blog was created as a method of communication between the representative and all Young Gilwellians(YGs). The hope is that this blog will be used as a method for information transfer. With the ultimate goal of more Young Gilwellians (YGs) attending the Ontario Gilwell Reunion at Blue Springs Scout Reserve.

The Young Gilwellian Representative (YGR):
- Represents the younger Gilwellians (ages 18 to 30) and not any specific contingent
- Elected by Gilwellians ages 18 – 30 (as of election date)
- Is a Voting Member of the Reunion Committee.
The purpose of this position is to give a large voice to the younger Gilwellians who attend the reunion.
Created prior to the 2008 Ontario Gilwell Reunion by its Committee. The original name of the position was “Gilwell Youth Representative.” Due to the overwhelming dislike of this name the Committee chose the name YGR. Campaigns were run and elections held. The voting was open only to Gilwellians under the age of 30. Shawn Jones (that’s me) was elected in 2008 to serve a three year term as YGR starting with the 2009 Reunion year.
